Australian maths seen as world's best

The world’s oldest academic not-for-profit publishing house, Cambridge University Press, has selected the Australian online maths system, HOTmaths, as its flagship ICT mathematics resource.
Cambridge and HOTmaths are combining forces to offer cutting-edge technology and best practice to support mathematics teaching and learning in Australian and New Zealand schools.
Based on the Australian model, Cambridge will be implementing HOTmaths throughout its worldwide network.
HOTmaths is an online, interactive, full curriculum learning system created over 9 years by a team of Australian educators to provide a full suite of electronic and print resources with powerful diagnostics and teacher reporting.
Announcing the venture, Executive Director of Cambridge University Press Australia and New Zealand, Mark O’Neil says:
“We have looked worldwide and found nothing that compares to this great Australian innovation.
“Cambridge became aware of HOTmaths after it was presented at the Nobel Prize winners’ convention as an example of world’s best practice in education technology.
“Our involvement with HOTmaths comes at a crucial time in the lead up to the National Curriculum which will require best-practice teaching and learning technology.
“As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to using the surplus we generate to advance research and education worldwide.”
HOTmaths founder, Shane Barry says:
