Examples

As indicated in the Preface, this book integrates the computational software packages Maple, MATLAB, EES, and FEHT directly with the Heat Transfer material. Tutorials for each of these software packages are provided in the appendices of the book. In addition, the book includes many completely worked examples using these software tools that solve interesting and relevant heat transfer problems.

All of the examples are launched by EES, even if they use FEHT, MATLAB or MAPLE to do some or all of the calculations. All of the files needed to run each example are contained in a .zip file that can be downloaded by clicking on the example name in the left column of the table below. The problem statement is provided in the EES Diagram window. If EES is not already installed on your computer, you should first install the EES Demo version, which will run any of these examples. A demonstration version of FEHT can also be downloaded to run the examples that use FEHT. Some of the examples use MAPLE to derive the equations. For these examples, both a Maple worksheet file (*.mws) and a text file is provided with the MAPLE input. If MAPLE is not installed on your computer, you can enter the commands directly into the Maple Command Applet. A complete solution of the problem in Adobe portable document format (.pdf) can be viewed by clicking on the example title in the right column.
