SPS: Call for Themed Section Proposals
Social Policy and Society published a uniquely structured themed section in each issue which is designed to offer an overview of a particular policy-relevant theme. The inclusion of a state-of-the-art article and a short guide to useful sources help to make these themed sections an invaluable resource for academics, policy-makers, professionals, practitioners, researchers and students. By allowing flexibility in the number of articles in a themed section, the Guest Editors have the freedom to take the appropriate approach for their theme.
Themed section proposals are welcome on any topic that has a strong social policy focus and has the potential to contribute to contemporary social policy debates and inform policy and/or practice. Recent topics have included: ‘Social Policy and Climate Crisis’, ‘Social Policy Responses and Institutional Reforms in the Pandemic’, ‘Mapping the Shifts in Russian and European Welfare Polities’, and ‘Personalisation and Collaboration: Dual Tensions in Individualised Funding Policy for Older and Disabled Persons’. We are particularly interested in proposals that explore new or less researched dimensions of social policy (such as – but not limited to – social policy education, social policy and well-being, and social policy and EDI issues) and social policy in under-researched welfare systems, such as those in low- or medium-income countries. Proposals that consist of contributions from both academic and non-academic stakeholders are also welcome.
Themed section proposals must include:
– the envisaged title
– the names, institutional affiliations and editorial experiences of the proposed Guest Editor(s)
– a rationale for the Themed Section
– a list of contributors, their institutional affiliations and information on relevant publications
– an ordered list of contents
– the author(s), titles and a 400-600-word abstract of each proposed article
Please refer to the Instructions for Guest Editors for further details and to download the proposal template. If you would like to discuss your proposal with the editors in advance of submission, please contact the journal at spseditors@nottingham.ac.uk
