Introducing Animal Nutriomics

Zhejiang University, in collaboration with Cambridge University Press, is launching the new journal – Animal Nutriomics – that covers all novel research on animal nutrition science from the perspective of genomics, especially in the fields of animal molecular nutrition, nutrition in animal health, nutritional regulation of genetics and epigenetics, nutrition-related omics, phenotype and metabolism. Anyone who is working on animal nutrition but also animal genetic and breeding, reproduction and animal health will benefit from this new, ambitious, open access journal.

What does Animal Nutriomics offer the field that is different to other journals?

The animal industry is essential to the national economy and people’s livelihood. In recent years, China government has encouraged scientific and technological innovation and technological progress to accelerate the high-quality development of animal husbandry. Since 2006, China’s pork, egg, milk and feed production have ranked first in the world. These achievements are inseparable from the rapid development of scientific research on animal nutrition in China. According to the statistics of Web of Science, China’s publications, highly cited papers, and hot papers are ranked third in the world, indicating that China has entered the advanced ranks in the field of animal nutrition.

What makes you excited about this new journal?

Zhejiang University is a leading Chinese institution. Supported by the University and its affiliated Press, Zhejiang University Press, we have an exciting opportunity to partner with the world famous Cambridge University Press in the launch of Animal Nutriomics. This international open access journal will meet the needs of researchers and relevant practitioners using new methods and technologies in animal nutrition science.

The term “nutriomics” (or “nutrigenomics” or “nutrition genomics”) is often used in the context of personalized medicine and healthy living for humans. The field is basically about the interaction between nutrients and genes: how the constituents of food can affect metabolism by altering gene expression. In the context of animal husbandry, nutriomics research helps understand how animals respond to food, and thus has implications not only for efficiency and productivity but also for animal health and disease. Thus, this developing research field has important implications for countries where agriculture has a significant economic role.

Why should authors publish in Animal Nutriomics?

Animal Nutriomics provides a new and high-level communication platform for researchers and relevant practitioners, is produced by a not-for-profit partnership between the Zhejiang University Press and Cambridge University Press, and holds an excellent expert and subject-specific team of Editors and Reviewers. Other benefits include, a fast review process, exclusively Gold Open access publication, free sharing of the accepted article using Core Share links and fast publication. Accepted manuscripts are available online within 24-48 hours of acceptance.

What kind of research/papers does Animal Nutriomics accept?

Animal Nutriomics publishes all types of original and high-quality contributions: original research articles, reviews, short communications, comments to published papers, and letters to the editors. The articles should be related to livestock, aquatic and laboratory animal species that address fundamental questions. Subject areas may include, but are not limited to: molecular animal nutrition, animal nutrigenomics and nutriepigenomics, phenotype and nutrition metabolism at molecular levels, animal and food microbiomes, nutritional epidemiology and animal health, nutritional regulation of animal growth, development and product quality, feedomics and foodomics, exploration of novel nutrients or feed additives for animal health, nutrigenetic basis of animal nutrition, functional omic bases of nutrition and reproductive physiology, advances in multiomics research and methods in animal sciences, etc.

How do authors publish in Animal Nutriomics?

We accept the following types of articles: Original research, Reviews, Short Communications, Commentaries and Letters to the Editor. Authors should prepare the materials according to the Author Instructions, and submit your materials to the journal here.

Animal Nutriomics is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that aims to provide timely updates on the latest research achievements, breakthrough advances, new technologies, methods, and analytical approaches in the field of animal nutrition science. The journal focuses primarily on molecular animal nutrition, omics technologies, and epigenetics, while also encompassing interdisciplinary aspects such as microbiome, veterinary medicine, food, and aquaculture.
