Aranne (Aharonovitch), Zalman was born in Russia in 1899 and at an early age became active in the Zionist movement. In 1924–5 he was a member of the Central Committee of the illegal Zionist Socialists in Russia. In 1926 he settled in Palestine where he occupied senior offices in Mapai and in the Histadrut. He was also a member of the Presidium of the Zionist Action Committee. From 1948 to 1951 he was Secretary-General of Mapai. A member of the Knesset from its inception, he was Minister Without Portfolio in 1954–5, subsequently becoming Minister of Education and Culture (1956–60), a post to which he was reappointed in 1963.

Argov (Grabovsky), Meir was born in Russia in 1905 and became active in Zionist organizations there, which resulted in his expulsion to Palestine in 1925. From 1931 he was a member of the Central Committee of Mapai and also worked in the Va'ad Le'umi–“The National Council”–during the British Mandate period. He was an active Mapai member in the Knesset and served as second chairman of its Committee on Foreign Affairs and Security.

Barkat (Burstein), Reuven was born in Lithuania in 1905 and settled in Palestine in 1926. He eventually headed the Political Department of the Histadrut. After 1948 he became a member of the Knesset and also served as Secretary-General of Mapai.

Ben-Aharon, Yitzhak was a prominent leader of Ahdut Ha'Avoda (and of Mapam), and held ministerial positions in the late 1950s and 1960s.

Berger, Herzl was born in Russia and began his political association with Hashomer Haza'ir there. He moved to Poland in 1932 after earning a Ph.D. in law at the University of Vienna.
