Summary
DACEYVILLE, NSW (day-see-vil), an inner south-eastern Sydney suburb, largely in botany Municipality but partly in randwick (map 26:17). It was planned as Australia's first ‘garden suburb’ and named after John Dacey, a long-serving local member of the State Parliament.
DAGLISH, WA (dag-lish), an inner western Perth suburb in the City of nedlands (map 20:C4). It was named after Henry Daglish, the State's first Labor Premier.
DAGURAGU, NT (dagă-rag-oo), a township (pop. 220) on Gurintji Aboriginal Land on the Buchanan Highway. It is administered by the Daguragu Community Government Council situated at Wave Hill (map 3).
DAINTREE, Qld (dayn-tree), 16 15S 145 19E (map 5), a township, region, river and national park on the east coast of cape york peninsula to the north of cairns. The park (56450 ha) is drained by tributaries of the Daintree River. It features wet tropical rainforest and a varied flora and fauna, some of them of species restricted to the Daintree region and hence rare. The total region is some 120 000 ha in area and takes its name from the river, named after Richard Daintree, a geologist, in 1873.
DAISY HILL, Qld, a south-eastern Brisbane suburb near kingston and in the City of logan (map 23:C5).
DAKABIN, Qld (dak-ă-bin [‘a’ as in ‘back’]), an outer northern Brisbane locality in the Shire of pine rivers. It is to the north of Petrie and adjacent to Lake Kurwongbah (map 23:B2). Dakabin is a Gabi-gabi Aboriginal term meaning ‘grass trees’ (Xanthorrhoea).
