Summary

The tools of the trade are briefly considered from a technical point of view. Recording electrode types and common configurations of their placement are described. Stimulators may be constant current or constant voltage in type. Differential amplifiers are used to increase common mode rejection. The use of trigger and delay facilities enable repeated potentials to be visualised in their entirety. Averagers lift small potentials above the background noise level.
