5 - A practical guide on research objectives and methodological features
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 22 February 2022
Summary
The final part of this handbook translates the theory of the previous parts into a practical guide, which can be used by legal scholars who are designing their own research project. In the first section we bring all the theory of the previous parts together in one overall scheme. This scheme will give a quick and brief overview of the different types of research objectives and their methodological features. It will serve as a practical reminder of the theory discussed.
In the second section we drafta ‘list of methodological questions’ for each type of research objective. This list is also based on the theory of the previous parts and can be a practical instrument for legal scholars when reflecting on the methodology of their research.
LIST OF METHODOLOGICAL QUESTIONS
The overall scheme of the previous section serves as a short reminder of the theory explained in part 2 and part 3 of this handbook. In order to increase the practicability of the scheme, we drafted a ‘list of methodological questions’ for each research objective. We encourage legal scholars to use this list of questions when reflecting on the methodology of their research project.
