Summary
Preparing an application for CESR in child and adolescent psychiatry is a substantial piece of work, given the range of skills that need to be demonstrated. Yet every year a small but significant number of doctors apply to the GMC for CESR in child and adolescent psychiatry. This is important not only for the individuals concerned but also for the specialty, which has a shortage of doctors eligible to work as consultants in substantive posts. The successful applicants add a welcome diversity and depth of experience to the specialty.
