Summary
As the crow flies the sun rips day open
to blast rays in stone lions’ mouths.
Past the gate with holes like a language,
past the stone teeth that wait for night.
The language of gaps is now
what all the lucky ones learn.
Near Theseus the tram's squeak turns
to squeal but no one looks up;
we're too busy giving
our footprints to the snow.
The crow has found a dead dog
and rests her beak upon its head.
We've bought a history we do not want
and we must watch it every day
until the minutes crack.
The crow eats, and day shakes
her bright head from the frame.
