Summary
With companies from all over the S&P 500 touting their family-friendly policies and support of mothers, and everywhere you look, from public relations (PR) campaigns to job search websites, the public lauding the support of mothers who work, it would seem downright foolish to admit to seeing motherhood as a burden or an inconvenience on a woman’s employer. And yet a look at the dearth of effective policies – legal, corporate, or cultural; formal or informal – in this country that actually allow expecting and new mothers to thrive and progress in their jobs, speaks for itself.
