Summary
Egas Moniz performed the first successful cerebral angiogram on June 28, 1927. Since then, remarkable achievements in studies of the cerebral circulation have been obtained. Most astonishing is that after more than 90 years, cerebral angiograms are performed daily at the largest hospitals of the world, adding an application that Moniz barely could imagine: interventional angiography for acute treatment of stroke.
