Summary
The portability and versatility of ultrasound (US) makes it ideally suited to diagnostic imaging in remote settings. The falling prices and diminishing size of high-quality devices are increasing the availability of US to clinicians working outside of hospital environments. Generalist healthcare professionals with US experience now have advanced diagnostic capabilities in settings where they would previously be reliant upon clinical examination alone.
