Together with the community of this fire here,

we approach you, O Wise Lord, at the beginning,

(we approach) you together with your most bounteous spirit

who indeed (is) harm for the one

whom you consign to harm.

  • (a) ēdōn ō ēd ī tō ātaxš pad warzišn fradom be rasom ohrmazd pad pahrēz ud šnāyēnīdārīh

  • (b) pad ēd ī tō gāhān pad ēd ī tō mēnōy ī abzōnīg čiyōn az dēn paydāg

  • (c) kē ō ōy xīndagīh kū pad abar ātaxš anāgīh kunēd ān-iz ō ōy xīndagīh dahēd kū ān-iz pad ōy anāgīh kunēd

Yasn, the second chapter

  • (a) Thus, at first I arrive before this your fire by practising, O Ohrmazd, with care and propitiation.

  • (b) With these your Gāϑās with this your bountiful spirit, as is manifest from the religion.

  • (c) He who (gives) illness to it, that is, he inflicts harm upon the fire, that one too gives him illness, that is, that one too inflicts harm upon him.

You there, the most joyful one,

may you come close to us for the sake of the request,

O fire of the Wise Lord!

May you come close to us,

with the joy of the most joyful one,

with the veneration of the most venerating one,

for the greatest of the appeals.

  • (a) pad urwāhmanīh ō ōy mard pad tuwān be rasēd ātaxš ī ohrmazd kū frēb gīrēd

  • (b) pad urwāhmanīh ō ōy kē-š urwāhmanīh aziš ud pad niyāyišnōmandīh ō ōy ī niyāyišnōmand mard

  • (c) pad ān ī meh kār be rasēd pad passāxt ī pad tan ī pasēn

  • (a) With joy for that man, arrive with strength, O fire of Ohrmazd, so that you restrain deceit.

  • (b) With joy for him, from whom is joy and with praiseworthiness for him who is the praiseworthy man.

  • (c) Arrive at the great event, at the trial of the final body.
