Dr Michael Carey is Associate Professor of Language and Literacy Education in the School of Education and Tertiary Access at the University of the Sunshine Coast. In his 30-year career as a teacher he has taught secondary English, English to speakers of other languages, tertiary English for academic purposes, and undergraduate and postgraduate courses in applied linguistics, English language and literacy. He specialises in developing primary and secondary preservice teachers' personal explicit knowledge about English language and literacy, promoting language diversity and appreciation of non-mainstream and creative forms of English language to empower all teachers to effectively teach English language and literacy across the curriculum.

Dr Vinh To is a Senior Lecturer in English Curriculum and Pedagogy in the College of Arts, Law and Education (CALE) at the University of Tasmania (UTAS), Australia. Her research interest includes educational linguistics, English, literacy and languages education, and online education. She is Founder of the Systemic Functional Linguistics Interest Group (SFLIG), Convenor of SFLIG Conferences, and Editor of SFLIG books and special issues. Her publications appear in top quartile journals such as the Australian Journal of Linguistics, the International Journal of Early Years Education, the Australian Journal of Language and Literacy and Linguistics and the Human Sciences. She has been invited to deliver international keynotes in Vietnam, Lithuania, Spain, and Indonesia.

Xuesong (Andy) Gao is Professor of Language and Literacy Education in the School of Education, the University of New South Wales, Australia. His research interests include language learner autonomy, language education policy, and language teacher education. He is the co-editor-in-chief for International Journal of Applied Linguistics. He also edits the English Language Education Series for Springer.
