Rubbings from Chavin de Huántar, Peru

Abstract

The inked-roller technique used to obtain “surface prints” of Chavín carvings, many of which have been discovered only recently, is described, and twelve prints or rubbings of these carvings and one of the Raimondi stela are illustrated.
