Open Science Badges

Beginning with the 2018 volume, Annual Review of Applied Linguistics will participate in the Center for Open Science's Open Science Badges initiative. Badges awarded to authors for open science practices signal and certify content's availability in a persistent location, are awarded after author disclosure, and will be featured in the published article. ARAL will offer authors the ability to receive the following two badges: Open Data and Open Materials. It is not necessary for authors to apply for badges to publish in ARAL

Open Data Badge.  This badge is earned for making publicly available the digitally shareable data necessary to reproduce the reported results.

Open Materials Badge.  This badge is earned by making publicly available the components of the research methodology needed to reproduce the reported procedure and analysis.

IRIS Digital Repository

IRIS is a collection of instruments, materials, stimuli, and data coding and analysis tools used for research into second languages, including second and foreign language learning, multilingualism, language education, language use and processing. Materials are freely accessible and searchable, easy to upload (for contributions) and download (for use). ARAL supports the IRIS database for research instruments by recommending all authors of empirical studies upload their instruments.
