A Note on the Utilisation of Polysaccharides by a Grasshopper

Extract

1. All polysaccharides fed to Melanoplus have been utilised incompletely or not at all.

2. Rupture of the starch granule renders it partly utilisable.

3. Glucose, galactose and xylose are completely absorbed.
