Extract

Eggs.—Laid in a mass, probably under the bark of the food-plant, for which purpose the long ovipositor of the ♀ moth seems fitted; the winter is probably passed in this state. Spherical, but some what misshapen from being closely pressed together; smooth, slightly shiny, under the microscope appearing irregularly indented; colour, yellow, becoming later reddish; diameter, .5mm.
