A NEW SPECIES OF THE HYBOMITRA SONOMENSIS GROUP (DIPTERA: TABANIDAE) WITH DESCRIPTION OF ITS IMMATURE STAGES

Abstract

Hybomitra enigmatica n. sp., previously confused with Hybomitra sonomensis (O.S.), is described in larval, pupal, and adult stages and compared with the latter species and with H. phaenops (O.S.). Hybomitra philipi Stone is synonymized with H. sonomensis. The distribution of these species in western North America is given.

L'auteur décrit les stades larvaire, pupal et adulte et Hybomitra enigmatica (nouvelle espèce), autrefois confondue avec Hybomitra sonomensis (O.S.), la compare à cette dernière espèce et avec H. phaenops (O.S.). Hybomitra philipi Stone est établie comme synonyme de H. sonomensis. L'ouvrage donne la distribution de ces espèces dans l'ouest de l'Amérique du Nord.
