I take pleasure in naming this species and an hereinafter to be described species of Saprinus after Prof. H. E. Jaques of the Iowa Wesleyan College. The present paper is the result of the studies necessitated hy the specimens of Histeridae sent to me by Prof. Jaques for determination. The types of all the new species and abberrations are in the collection of the author.
