Radiative accelerationsthrough photoionization and bremsstrahlung; autoionization
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 13 January 2006
Abstract
Whereas transition probabilities needed for the computation of radiative forces due to bound-bound absorptions are generally available photoionisation and bremsstrahlung require going one step further than the dipolar approximation in treating the radiation matter interaction. I will try to give an overview of the current status on both theoretical and practical points. Autoionization resonances deserve further investigation: though they can dominate photoionization cross sections very little is known on how they might impact radiative forces. I will show through recent literature that specific atomic calculations have to be performed.
