This interview covers life and work of Marianne Kleibrink, retired Professor of Classical and Mediterranean Archaeology at the Groningen Institute of Archaeology. For more than 25 years she conducted and published excavations at Timpone della Motta near Francavilla Marittima (northern Calabria) and at Satricum (south Lazio), documenting the indigenous roots of these proto-urban sites as well as the transformations they underwent when they became incorporated, respectively, in the colonial Greek and Roman spheres. Her experience as, first, a woman making an academic career for herself in Dutch universities, and, later, as a foreign archaeologist running long-term projects in Italy, echos those of many others.

Cette interview traite de la vie et du travail de Marianne Kleibrink, professeur émérite d'archéologie classique et méditerranéenne à l'Institut d'Archéologie de Groningen. Elle dirigeait et publiait pendant plus de 25 ans des fouilles à Timpone della Motta près de Francavilla Marittima (Calabrie du Nord) et à Satricum (Lazio méridional), en documentant les racines indigènes de ces sites protourbains de même que les transformations qu'ils ont subies après avoir été incorporés dans les sphères coloniales respectivement grecques et romaines. Son expérience, d'abord comme femme construisant sa propre carrière académique dans des universités néerlandaises, et ensuite comme archéologue étrangère conduisant des projets à long terme en Italie, rappelle celle de beaucoup d'autres.
