Síntomas depresivos medidos por la CDI en una población de niños del norte de Italia

Resumen
El propósito de este estudio era evaluar algunas propiedades psicométricas del Inventario de Depresión Infantil (CDI) y la prevalencia de los síntomas depresivos en una muestra italiana no seleccionada de 284 niños de 8 afios de edad. La consistencia interna de la CDI fue adecuada (alfa de Cronbach: 0,80). La media y la desviación típica de la CDI y el porcentaje de niños expuestos a la depresión (10,6%) en esta muestra son coherentes con las cifras comunicadas por otros estudios llevados a cabo en Europa del Norte y Norteamérica. Hubo diferencias en el género y el nivel socioeconómic, ya que los niños puntuaban más alto que las niñas, y en el nivel socioeconómico más bajo hubo más niños expuestos a depresión. Diez elementos discriminaron mejor a los niños expuestos a depresión, con un 94% de clasificación correcta. La mayoría de estos elementos consistían en signos observables. Se propone que la CDI tiene una notable consistencia a través de muestras de culturas relativamente diferentes, que se puede emplear fiablemente en la evaluación de niños pequeños y que los signos observables superan en número a los síntomas de internalización de depresión entre los niños expuestos.
