Una confirmación de la clasificación del alcoholismo masculino en dos tipos

Resumen

En los últimos años, varios autores han propuesto una clasificación del alcoholismo masculino en dos tipos. El estudio pretendía poner a prueba la clasificación del alcoholismo en los tipos I y II en una muestra independiente. Se estudió un total de 351 hombres alcohólicos según los Criterios para el Estudio Diagnóstico (RDC) admitidos consecutivamente para tratamiento psiquiátrico interno. Las características del tipo II se extrajeron de las publicaciones pertinentes; se seleccionaron las 19 variables disponibles que mejor representaban estas características. Los datos se recogieron utilizando el método de evaluación retrospectiva de los historiales clínicos. El análisis de grupos produjo dos grupos que estaban muy separados entre sí. Se demostró la heterogeneidad de la población interna masculina de alcohólicos y se confirmó la existencia del alcoholismo de tipo I y de tipo II definido de manera amplia.
