The purpose of this paper is to give a characterisation of divided power algebras over a reduced operad. Such a characterisation is given in terms of polynomial operations, following the classical example of divided power algebras. We describe these polynomial operations in two different ways: one way uses invariant elements under the action of the symmetric group and the other coinvariant elements. Our results are then applied to the case of level algebras, which are (non-associative) commutative algebras satisfying the exchange law.

In this paper, we provide two new extensions to a lemma of Bernik (1983). Applications are also discussed.

We generalize known results about Hilbertian fields to Hilbertian rings. For example, let R be a Hilbertian ring (e.g. R is the ring of integers of a number field) with quotient field K and let A be an abelian variety over K. Then, for every extension M of K in K(Ator(Ksep)), the integral closure RM of R in M is Hilbertian.

Let F be a field of characteristic different of 2 and let M1|1(F)(+) denote the Jordan superalgebra of 2 × 2 matrices over the field F. The aim of this paper is to classify irreducible (unital and one-sided) Jordan bimodules over the Jordan superalgebra M1|1(F)(+).

Let M be a smooth compact manifold with boundary. Under some geometric conditions on M, a homotopical model for the pair (M, ∂M) can be recovered from the configuration category of M \ ∂M. The grouplike monoid of derived homotopy automorphisms of the configuration category of M \ ∂M then acts on the homotopical model of (M, ∂M). That action is compatible with a better known homotopical action of the homeomorphism group of M \ ∂M on (M, ∂M).

For a path connected space X, the homology algebra $H_*(QX; \mathbb{Z}/2)$ is a polynomial algebra over certain generators QIx. We reinterpret a technical observation, of Curtis and Wellington, on the action of the Steenrod algebra A on the Λ algebra in our terms. We then introduce a partial order on each grading of H*QX which allows us to separate terms in a useful way when computing the action of dual Steenrod operations $Sq^i_*$ on $H_*(QX; \mathbb{Z}/2)$. We use these to completely characterise the A-annihilated generators of this polynomial algebra. We then propose a construction for sequences I so that QIx is A-annihilated. As an application, we offer some results on the form of potential spherical classes in H*QX upon some stability condition under homology suspension. Our computations provide new numerical conditions in the context of hit problem.

Nakayama automorphisms play an important role in the fields of noncommutative algebraic geometry and noncommutative invariant theory. However, their computations are not easy in general. We compute the Nakayama automorphism ν of an Ore extension R[x; σ, δ] over a polynomial algebra R in n variables for an arbitrary n. The formula of ν is obtained explicitly. When σ is not the identity map, the invariant EG is also investigated in terms of Zhang’s twist, where G is a cyclic group sharing the same order with σ.

The exceptional simple Lie algebras of types E7 and E8 are endowed with optimal $\mathsf{SL}_2^n$ -structures, and are thus described in terms of the corresponding coordinate algebras. These are nonassociative algebras which much resemble the so-called code algebras.

In order to better unify the tilting theory and the Auslander–Reiten theory, Xi introduced a general transpose called the relative transpose. Originating from this, we introduce and study the cotranspose of modules with respect to a left A-module T called n-T-cotorsion-free modules. Also, we give many properties and characteristics of n-T-cotorsion-free modules under the help of semi-Wakamatsu-tilting modules AT.

For a multiplier Hopf algebra pairing 〈A,B〉, we construct a class of group-cograded multiplier Hopf algebras D(A,B), generalizing the classical construction of finite dimensional Hopf algebras introduced by Panaite and Staic Mihai [Isr. J. Math. 158 (2007), 349–365]. Furthermore, if the multiplier Hopf algebra pairing admits a canonical multiplier in M(B⊗A) we show the existence of quasitriangular structure on D(A,B). As an application, some special cases and examples are provided.

Let k be a divisor of a finite group G and Lk(G) = {x ∈ G | xk =1}. Frobenius proved that the number |Lk(G)| is always divisible by k. The following inverse problem is considered: for a given integer n, find all groups G such that max{k-1|Lk(G)| | k ∈ Div(G)} = n, where Div(G) denotes the set of all divisors of |G|. A procedure beginning with (in a sense) minimal members and deducing the remaining ones is outlined and executed for n=8.

Let R be a Mori domain with complete integral closure $\widehat R$, nonzero conductor $\mathfrak f = (R: \widehat R)$, and suppose that both v-class groups ${{\cal C}_v}(R)$ and ${{\cal C}_v}(3\widehat R)$ are finite. If $R \mathfrak f$ is finite, then the elasticity of R is either rational or infinite. If $R \mathfrak f$ is artinian, then unions of sets of lengths of R are almost arithmetical progressions with the same difference and global bound. We derive our results in the setting of v-noetherian monoids.

We give a complete description of quadratic twisted potential algebras on three generators as well as cubic twisted potential algebras on two generators up to graded algebra isomorphisms under the assumption that the ground field is algebraically closed and has characteristic other than 2 or 3.

We generalize the notion of summable Szlenk index from a Banach space to an arbitrary weak*-compact set. We prove that a weak*-compact set has summable Szlenk index if and only if its weak*-closed, absolutely convex hull does. As a consequence, we offer a new, short proof of a result from Draga and Kochanek [J. Funct. Anal. 271 (2016), 642–671] regarding the behavior of summability of the Szlenk index under c0 direct sums. We also use this result to prove that the injective tensor product of two Banach spaces has summable Szlenk index if both spaces do, which answers a question from Draga and Kochanek [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 145 (2017), 1685–1698]. As a final consequence of this result, we prove that a separable Banach space has summable Szlenk index if and only if it embeds into a Banach space with an asymptotic c0 finite dimensional decomposition, which generalizes a result from Odell et al. [Q. J. Math. 59, (2008), 85–122]. We also introduce an ideal norm $\mathfrak{s}$ on the class $\mathfrak{S}$ of operators with summable Szlenk index and prove that $(\mathfrak{S}, \mathfrak{s})$ is a Banach ideal. For 1 ⩽ p ⩽ ∞, we prove precise results regarding the summability of the Szlenk index of an ℓp direct sum of a collection of operators.

Let 𝔟 be the Borel subalgebra of the Lie algebra 𝔰𝔩2 and V2 be the simple two-dimensional 𝔰𝔩2-module. For the universal enveloping algebra $\[{\cal A}: = U(\gb \ltimes {V_2})\]$ of the semi-direct product 𝔟⋉V2 of Lie algebras, the prime, primitive and maximal spectra are classified. The simple unfaithful $\[{\cal A}\]$-modules are classified and an explicit description of all prime factor algebras of $\[{\cal A}\]$ is given. The following classes of simple U(𝔟⋉V2)-modules are classified: the Whittaker modules, the 𝕂[X]-torsion modules and the 𝕂[E]-torsion modules.

In this article, we study localizations of hearts of cotorsion pairs ($\mathcal{U}, \mathcal{V}$) where $\mathcal{U}$ is rigid on an extriangulated category $\mathcal{B}$ . The hearts of such cotorsion pairs are equivalent to the functor categories over the stable category of $\mathcal{U}$ ( $\bmod \underline{\mathcal{U}}$ ). Inspired by Marsh and Palu (Nagoya Math. J.225(2017), 64–99), we consider the mutation (in the sense of Iyama and Yoshino, Invent. Math.172(1) (2008), 117–168) of $\mathcal{U}$ that induces a cotorsion pair ( $\mathcal{U}^{\prime}, \mathcal{V}^{\prime}$ ). Generally speaking, the hearts of ( $\mathcal{U}, \mathcal{V}$ ) and ( $\mathcal{U}^{\prime}, \mathcal{V}^{\prime}$ ) are not equivalent to each other, but we will give a generalized pseudo-Morita equivalence between certain localizations of their hearts.

In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions to a semilinear nonlocal elliptic problem with the fractional α-Laplacian on Rn, 0 < α < n. We show that the problem has infinitely many positive solutions in $ {C^\tau}({R^n})\bigcap H_{loc}^{\alpha /2}({R^n}) $. Moreover, each of these solutions tends to some positive constant limit at infinity. We can extend our previous result about sub-elliptic problem to the nonlocal problem on Rn. We also show for α ∊ (0, 2) that in some cases, by the use of Hardy’s inequality, there is a nontrivial non-negative $ H_{loc}^{\alpha /2}({R^n}) $ weak solution to the problem

We give an algebraic proof of a class number formula for dihedral extensions of number fields of degree 2q, where q is any odd integer. Our formula expresses the ratio of class numbers as a ratio of orders of cohomology groups of units and allows one to recover similar formulas which have appeared in the literature. As a corollary of our main result, we obtain explicit bounds on the (finitely many) possible values which can occur as ratio of class numbers in dihedral extensions. Such bounds are obtained by arithmetic means, without resorting to deep integral representation theory.
