The Feminist Sexuality Debates and the Transformation of the Political
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 11 March 2020
Abstract
In this essay 1 examine the history of the sexuality debates among feminists. In both the nineteenth century and the recent sexuality debates the personal is taken to be foundational for a political stance, while simultaneously the debates transform feminist understandings of the extent to which the personal is political. 1 suggest that this transformation undermines the epistemological assumptions of the debates, resulting in a feminism that cannot be radical.
