The Immature Stages and Chaetotaxy of Epicerura pulverulenta Hampson (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae)

Abstract

This paper describes the immature stages of the striped caterpillar Epicerura pulverulenta Hampson, a notodontid defoliator of combretaceous trees, viz., Terminalia ivorensis, T. superba, T. catappa and Anogeissus leiocarpus. The structure and chaetotaxy of the mature (fifth stage) larva is described in detail with illustrations to aid easy field identification of the moth.

Résumé

Cette etude decrit les etapes della chenille rayee pas assez developpee, Epicerura pulverulenta Hampson, une defoliateur notodontide, des arbres combretaceuses viz Terminalia ivorensis, T. superba, T. catappa et Anogeissus leiocarpus. La structure et la chaetotaxie d'une larve developpee (5e etape) ont ete bien illustre par des exemples pour faciliter l'identite specifique de la phalene au cours de travail.
