[General Assembly Resolution 37/7 was adopted on October 28, 1982, by a vote of 111 in favor to 1 against (United States), with 18 abstentions (Algeria, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, Guyana, Lebanon, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela). Later the U.N. Secretariat was informed that Mexico had intended to vote in favor of the Resolution.

[General Assembly Resolution 35/7 of October 30, 1980, and the draft World Charter for Nature, mentioned in that Resolution, appear respectively at 20 I.L.M. 462 (1981) and 20 I.L.M. 464 (1981).]
