The Caribbean Commission held its twelfth meeting at Barbados from May 7 to 12, 1951 under the chairmanship of Sir George Seel (United Kingdom).

Jamaica was chosen as the site for the fifth session of the West Indian Conference which was to be held in the first half of October to avoid conflict with the tourist season. The principal theme was to be “Industrialization and Vocational Training”.
