The Common Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community held an extraordinary session in Strasbourg on March 11, 1953, to adopt a budget for the organization for the coming year. At a session on May 12, 1953, the Common Assembly elected its officers, re-electing Paul-Henri Spaak president.
