References

page 124 note 1 The editor's references at p. xx require correction.

page 124 note 2 ‘ Unpublished letters from Richard II in Ireland, 1394-5 ’, in Proc. R.I.J., xxxvii, sect, c, pp. 276-303

page 124 note 3 H. G. Richardson and G. O. Sayles, ‘ Parliamentary documents from formul aries ’.

page 124 note 4 The note to no. 7 has little relevance and is incorrect. John Colton was justiciar (not lieutenant) in January-February 1382 (not 1381), while still chancellor : he became archbishop of Armagh in the following year (not 1382). The notes to nos. 104 and 331 are inconsistent. Actually Thomas of Lancaster's appointment took effect from 18 July 1401 and he landed in Ireland on 13 November following. In view of the editor's reference to the Coventry parliament of 1404, the date (1410) assigned to no. 331 can hardly be a misprint for 1401 : but Allerthorpe, the presumed writer of the letter, was treasurer between May 1401 and February 1402.
