STATO ED ECONOMIA IN TEMPO DI CRISI. VENTITRE DEMOCRAZIE INDUSTRIALI A CONFRONTO

Introduzione

Quando verrà scritta la storia della seconda metà del XX secolo, il conseguimento di alti tassi di crescita, la piena occupazione, i bassi tassi di inflazione e l'espansione dello stato sociale negli anni cinquanta e sessanta saranno senza dubbio indicati come i caratteri distintivi di una felice combinazione di politiche economiche e sociali nei paesi industrializzati ad economia capitalistica regolata. Negli anni settanta, invece, la riduzione della crescita, i crescenti tassi di disoccupazione e inflazione, l'aumento di domande post-materialistiche e la crisi fiscale dello stato sociale hanno generato problemi di difficile soluzione per chi voglia riconciliare un'economia regolata di mercato con il mantenimento di uno stato sociale sviluppato.
