The effect of histamine combined with formic or acetic acid on food intake and rumen motility, when infused into the omasum of a ram*
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 27 March 2009
Summary
After establishing a permanent omasal fistula in a ram, solutions containing histamine with or without formic or acetic acid were introduced directly into the omasum. It was found that histamine, together with formic or acetic acid, stopped feeding and rumen motility, but formic acid and histamine, infused separately, had no effect on food intake.
