Call for new JCL Associate Editors

The Journal of Child Language is looking to appoint two new Associate Editors from January 2024.

About the Associate Editor role

We are especially looking for self-nominations of individuals with specific expertise in one or more of the following areas: infant development, input, phonology, morphosyntax, narratives, disorders, bilingualism, cognitive-language interface, and/or have knowledge of newer statistical approaches.

The job entails overseeing the review process for manuscripts assigned to you, conferring with the Editors-in-Chief and the other AEs about decisions affecting the journal, and promoting the journal to colleagues. Cambridge University Press provides a small honorarium for this service (£1,000 per annum).

About the journal

Over the last few years, JCL has developed open science policies and a new Registered Report format. We also remain committed to publishing traditional empirical format manuscripts as well as those for which pre-registration may not be appropriate, such as small samples of hard-to-reach populations and other exploratory studies. JCL is multidisciplinary and invites submissions of scientifically rigorous empirical works on any topic directly related to the study of child language.

Self-nomination process

We encourage nominations from individuals who can contribute to the global diversity of our editorial team. Prior editorial experience is not a requirement. Experience with JCL as an author or reviewer is desired.

If you have a Ph.D. and an academic appointment, work in an area related to the journal's Aims and Scope, and would be interested in joining JCL as an Associate Editor starting in January 2024, please submit your self-nomination by completing this brief form by 29 October 2023.
