In this paper presented on 17 June 1960, with Captain F. J. Wylie, R.N. in the Chair, the Harbour Master of Southampton considers the problem of coordinating shipping movements in a major port. The experience of Southampton is largely drawn upon and a description is given of the communications systems and the use of the harbour radar in that port.
