Plasma physics under extreme conditions: from high-energy-density experiments to astrophysics
The invited papers in this special collection address a wide range of plasma physics processes that are important in astrophysical environments and can be studied in laboratory high-energy-density physics experiments. The collection includes essays on the experimental, observational, theoretical, and computational efforts to better understand these processes and environments, from Fermi-degenerate dense plasmas in planetary interiors, to particle acceleration and radiation emission in collisionless shocks and magnetic reconnection, to nonlinear QED processes in electron-positron plasmas.
