Diploma in Mathematics

The first examination was held in November 1961 at 12 centres in England and Wales and by special arrangement in individual cases at various places overseas with private invigilators. Of the 122 candidates who sat for the examination 50 were successful and were awarded Diplomas, 22 were ‘referred’ in one of the papers, and 50 failed. In addition to the main Diploma Examination there were two ‘endorsement’ papers at a more advanced level in Statistics and in Applied Mathematics, and 3 candidates were successful at this level. The following candidates were successful.
