Why teach mathematics? 1985 Presidential Address

As an industrial mathematician, who has done some teaching and has had some connections with the educational establishment, I feel extremely honoured to have been asked to serve the Association, this year, as its President. I feel it is a culmination of the growing links and dialogue between education and employment. I am happy to have been a part of that process.
