The conductive polymer, polyaniline, has been proposed as a material for applications such as flexible batteries, anti-static coatings and anti-corrosion paints. Polyaniline (PAN), however, is an intractable solid. Its rigid backbone and high cohesive energy lead to insoluble polymers. Dispersing polyaniline in solution has been a problem for industrial scale applications.
