Extract

The mechanical properties of in-situ composites intended for use as gas turbine materials are reviewed. Particular emphasis is placed on the current understanding of strengthening and fracture mechanisms of these materials. The need to modify current methods of data representation, that have been developed for more conventional materials, in order to improve property extrapolation and design procedures are highlighted.
