Abstract

We combine the principles of phonon and electron quantization in confined systems and breakdown of wavevector conservation in the photon-electron and phonon-electron couplings to describe the Raman spectrum of nanocrystals. The approach proposed here is consistent with experimental results and models developed for Raman scattering from quantum wells and superlattices.
