Work Hardening Characteristics and Recovery of Gamma Base Titanium Aluminides
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 10 February 2011
Abstract
The work hardening behaviour of gamma base titanium aluminides was investigated by mechanical testing, electron microscope observations and recovery experiments. The main objectives of the paper are: (i) to ascertain the nature of work hardening at room temperature, (ii) to identify deformation induced glide obstacles which can be overcome with the aid of thermal activation, (iii) to assess the thermal stability of deformation induced defect structures.
