page 147 note 1 A short description of these newly discovered cultures will be found in The Mesolithic Settlement of Northern Europe by Dr J. G. D. Clark, where references to the original papers will also be found. The Arctic rock-engravings are also considered in the same work and references are given to the numerous monographs recently published in Scandinavia.

page 147 note 2 The study of prehistoric agriculture, field-systems and farmsteads is one in which British Archaeology has played a pioneer part, under the leadership of Crawford, Curwen, Stevens and others. An outstanding contribution to the subject is made by Dr Curwen and Mr Hawkes in the present issue of our Proceedings.
