Extract

Adrianus Saravia is not very well-known. Most outlines of his life and work, in biographical dictionaries and short articles in periodicals, are not critically or scientifically adequate. His correspondence has not been published nor has it been made the subject of historical research and there is still no biography. It is therefore necessary to begin with a short biographical sketch, before commenting on Saravia’s significance as an eirenical churchman.
