Hot Haloes of Planetary Nebulae
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 26 May 2016
Abstract
We present model results of time-dependent ionization of a nebula with a halo. Fast transition of the ionization front across the halo causses its heating well above the equilibrium temperature. For a long time after this event the halo is observed as hotter than the main inner nebula, in agreement with observations of some planetary nebulae.
