A proposal is made for the construction of a 25 cm aperture “reflecting astrolabe”, using a CER-VIT prism of near-zero thermal expansion. Such an instrument could be expected to have an advantage over the Danjon astrolabe as regards accuracy, declination-range and limiting magnitude.
