1 1935–95: Aurora's booklet provides a summary of his career.

2 As far as I am aware the recordings of Signals, made in 1969 by the original performers (Trio Mobile), and Spur (part of a 2-disc set from Unicorn entitled ‘Aurora borealis’ and featuring a variety of Norwegian composers: Arnestad, Fongaard, Janson, Persen, Søderlind, Thommesen) have never been reissued on CD, or not for any length of time.

3 Stefan Hussong set this down a decade ago for Thorofon, a recording seemingly available now only as a download.

4 Two are for cello alone, Clamavi (1979) and Partita for Paul; and apart from Tenebrae (1982) there is the marvellous concerto-cantata Wirklicher Wald (1984) for soprano, cello, mixed chorus and orchestra.
