I am pleased to be with you today at this 13th meeting of the Weed Science Society of America. As the president of this organization, Dr. Upchurch, has noted, this event is an excellent mechanism for an exchange of ideas between the various disciplines in the field of weed science. It also allows today for me an opportunity to express to you the view of the Environmental Protection Agency with respect to agriculture in general and pesticide herbicide questions in particular, by a discussion of the new Environmental Pesticide Control Act.
