Naoki Egami (Princeton)
Selection committee: Justin Grimmer (Chicago, chair), Matt Blackwell (Harvard) and Teppei Yamamoto (MIT)
Citation:
Egami's three papers all make substantial theoretical contributions to the causal inference literature, and they each address cutting-edge, unresolved questions such as identifying spillover effects in network experiments, detection of homophily bias, and estimating high-order interactions in factorial experiments. These innovations are not only highly relevant for typical empirical research in political science, but they also have strong potential for making impact on other disciplines. The technical rigor is clearly superb, even judging from the limited exposition in this proposal.
